Disclaimer: Don't own POTC. Didn't take the photograph used for reference. Not making any money.

Summary: More Art! Mr. Cotton and Parrot. I love this man's face. I'm afraid that wrinkles are much more fun than smooth skin to draw. I just wish there were more PotC pictures of the non-perfect people. And this was my first attempt at a parrot.

That is really, really good. The shading, the precise detail, the expression on his face. Gorgeous piece of work, and gosh, I hope to see more from you. Going into my memories, this one.

Thank you so much. I've always loved drawing faces, and Cotton has such a wonderful face. You will definitely see more from me if you hang around here because I draw all the time in meetings. I'm honoured that you'd memory this.

There's where that adjective went! Thank you so much. I'm glad these are getting closer and closer to the human photocopier stage. PotC has been good for my realism. I'm glad you're enjoying the process.

Oh, this is simply gorgeous. I love every single detail. Being asked to settle on one, I'd probably say the parrot's feathers.

Thank you very much. I love details myself. I had to draw two birds in art class in college, but I haven't tried feathers since. They're a real chore to figure out on a small picture. I'm glad you liked these.

Have I mentioned how very much I love your icon! Jack and his dirt are so cute together.

I'm glad to find a fellow Cotton lover. He's such a great character for a man who has no lines! And poor Parrot just doesn't know when it's not prudent to mention mutiny. Jack does seem to be a trial to any animal with which he comes into contact! LOL!

Thanks for commenting.

That is so gorgeous-- I don't have enough words to say how gorgeous. Cotton has possibly the best face in all of PotC; I'm not sure what it is, but I love it. He'd be one awesome grandfather ^^

Are you sure this is the first time you've drawn a parrot? The detail in its feathers is stunning. I like that you've chosen a picture with a more dynamic pose; the open wings just give the picture so much more movement.

Cotton does have such a wonderful face--so wise and gentle and patient. He was much fun to draw.

I have never drawn a parrot before, although way back in 1990 or so I drew a duck and a pheasant.

The minute I saw this photograph, I knew I wanted to draw it. I've been looking for good pictures of the minor characters.

Thank you so much for commenting.

*bounce* Thank you so very much. Yes, wrinkles are far more interesting and varied than flawless skin. I sketch whenever I'm forced to sit still, which usually means one to two hours a week. Good luck getting back into it. It's addicting.

Thank you very much. I started doing these portraits determined to finally master them, and I'm glad it's working. The creation of a likeness is getting easier. But wrinkles really help. They're like gridlines that give many small reference shapes. I love Cotton's face and it was time I tried a bird again. "fowl fiend" *snork* That was evil! LOL!

Honorat, this is stunning!

Parrot is beautiful; his face is so alive. The extension of his wings and the detail of each feather is amazing.

And the shadows in this, on the near side of Cotton's face and that of PArrot's beak on his chest...how in heaven's name do you do this?

As for Cotton...what a wonderful portrait of him! I can certainly see how his features would be more interesting to draw than some of the movies' less weathered characters.

Once again, I'm in awe. Lovely, lovely work!

Art set on stun, Mr. Sulu!

Parrot is a beautiful bird in the original, so he was much fun to draw. It's been a long time since I've tried feathers, and this was my first try at outstretched wings.

I started doing these photo-realism drawings to learn to master shadows. They're really just shapes. Like any other shape, it's a matter of the eye seeing them. Once you can see them, they're easy enough to put in. Then there's the little blend at the edges so they're not too sharp.

Cotton is a lovely man. His face is a map of his life. I really like his character.

Thank you for such a lovely comment.
